Artist Bio
I have lived in Leland NC since 2012, and am a member of Wilmington Art Association, Art League of Leland, and the Oak Island Art Guild. I do illustrations for comicphonics.com and have illustrated 5 ebooks for beginning readers. I’ve exhibited at LCAC, Caprice Bistro, Loveys, Art Factory, ACES, Sunset River Marketplace, Landfall, Cameron Art Museum, Leland Cultural Arts Center, Cape Fear Artist, Fine Art Gallery in Mayfair, Bellamy Mansion and Franklin Square Gallery. I have taught art for many years, most recently to adults. Prior to 2012, I was a public school art teacher in NJ, and prior to that a student at SUNY.
I studied art in college, but everything I know about painting I learned elsewhere. I've taken classes at Cameron Museum, on-line classes, and many workshops from NY to Mexico. It is amazing how much you can learn in a few short days with a great teacher....and lots of practice
My paintings are varied. Subject matter includes seascapes, people, still life, interiors; the common denominator is color. I use oils, acrylics, watercolors and gouache. I also work at jewelry making, collage, and pine needle weaving on gourds.
Artist Statement
I don’t know where I would be without art. I don’t know who I would be, if not an artist.
