Artist Bio
I work mainly in polymer clay. Polymer clay is very versatile and is somewhat of a chameleon in its ability to mimic a variety of things. My focus is on color and texture and constraints. Subtle colors found in nature as in a sea scape, sunrise or bird’s feathers inspire me. I usually mix all my own colors from primaries (fuchsia, cobalt blue and zinc yellow) and white and black. Textures from nature and from industrial settings influence me. As I create, I often impose constraints (limiting shape or color usage) that require me to be creative in the design choices I make. I create jewelry and a variety of small items like bowls, pens and miniature sculptures. 
Prior to moving to the Southport area over 10 years ago, I was a faculty member and administrator in the College of Engineering and Computing at Miami of Ohio for over 30 years. Problem solving was one of the main skills needed in that arena and that is one I still rely on in creating something with polymer clay. I also teach classes on polymer clay at Brunswick Community College – Southport.

I enjoy creating something that is slightly unexpected from what is considered typical.
