Dennis Hetzel’s latest novel, "Azalea Bluff," is a sci-fi thriller about the disappearance of a young journalist from a Brunswick County beach community. His first two award-winning thrillers for Headline Books, "Season of Lies" and "Killing the Curse," explored the stiff prices paid to succeed in politics and sports.
During his varied career as a journalist and media executive, he was managing editor of the Madison (WI) Capital Times, editor and publisher of the York (PA) Daily Record, Kentucky general manager of The Cincinnati Enquirer, editor in residence at Penn State University and executive director of the Ohio News Media Association where his successful lobbying on open government issues gained national recognition.
A Chicago native and graduate of Western Illinois University, Hetzel lives in Holden Beach, plays rhythm or bass guitar for four different bands and offers freelance writing and editing services.
