Joanne Michalak

 Joanne Michalak is new to the art world. Having dabbled on and off her entire life with different mediums, she recently discovered "dot art". Something drew her to this art form that balances her need for structure, discipline, and patterns with her desire to be creative and play with color.  Retiring in 2022 from decades of working with information systems, data structures and analysis, and client conversions, she found a niche that uses some of those disciplines but allows for far greater creativity. Joanne moved to Southport, NC in 2018 after growing up in CT and spending nearly 25 years in Atlanta, GA.  In addition to being a new member of the Artisans Group, she is also a member of both the St. James Service Club and Vintage Ladies. She also volunteers as a tutor at Southport Elementary School.
 
Artist Statement
As a new artist, I am always eager to learn new techniques, tips, and tricks from other artists, regardless of art form, and I love when people ask me questions about my own pieces. This new addiction has allowed me to meet so many interesting and talented people and I am excited to continue on this journey.
