Before retirement and moving to Southport, Steve spent most of his professional life as a basketball coach. In his spare time he loves to travel and spend time in the outdoors. The grandeur of mountain peaks or the innumerable colors of an ocean sunset have always given him inspiration. So, after taking a photography class at a local community college from the suggestion of his wife, he began a love affair with finding and photographing the beauty of the world around us.
Since the word photograph means a visual display of light, Steve set out to capture beautiful light, first on film and now on digital sensors in his photographs. It is this “Natural Light” that he seeks to display from a moment in time in each image he records for all of us to enjoy. He hopes to bring the inspiration of those “Mountain Cathedrals”, or the feeling one gets from the roar of a rushing river, or the splendid pallet of colors found at the shoreline during a sunset to life in his photography.
He says, “It is my hope to reflect the beauty, awe and wonder I see all around me. After all, the world around us is the canvas of a loving God”.
In his work thus far, Steve Has won BEST of SHOW at the San Diego County Fair twice, once for color and once for black & white. His images were hung in several galleries on the West Coast, and he was commissioned to create several 20 x 30-inch photographs and a 3-dimensional photo sculpture for the permanent display at a church in southern California.
